HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Let the competition begin.
Holland’s effort to secure a five million-dollar grant in the nationwide Georgetown University Energy Prize competition formally began last night with a reception at Baker Commons. Mayor Kurt Dykstra said that the ultimate goal of the 50 communities vying for top honors is to develop ways for reducing this country’s energy consumption by 50 percent. Four neighborhood teams led by City Council and Holland BPW Board members will stage local quarterly contests as well.
