HOLLAND (WTHC-AM/FM) — A sixth Allegan County resident has died after getting COVID-19, according to county health officials, who release no details on these deaths.
As of Friday, May 22, 2020, health officials say 230 people have the virus, with 33 of those probable cases. While 22 remain hospitalized, 100 are considered recovered.
The death toll in Ottawa County has not risen from 31, where 737 people have the virus; 53 are hospitalized; and 237 are considered recovered. As of Friday, 27 children between birth and 9 years old have the virus. A new complication in very young children is being studied by health officials. The largest group diagnosed with the virus are 132 people ages 30 to 39, follows by 124 people ages 20 to 29.
Symptoms of COVID-19 can include:
- Fever
- Runny nose
- Cough
- Fatigue
- Muscle aches
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
People with the virus are encouraged to keep away from family members as much as possible for at least 14 days. Everyone in the household should practice exceptional personal hygiene, with frequent handwashing.
