HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — The Holland woman murdered early Thursday, May 14, 2020, is Michelle Lynette Speck, 52, according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Capt. Mark Bennett.
She was stabbed at the Staybridge Suites Hotel, 12170 James St., in Holland Township. Bennett told WHTC she “was not a guest nor working there at the time of her death.”
A forensic autopsy on her body, done at Spectrum Blodgett Hospital in Grand Rapids, shows that she died of a knife wound, police said. Her death is a homicide.
The suspect, her 31-year-old son-in-law, a Holland Township resident whose name is being withheld by police until after arraignment, remains in Indiana’s St. Joseph County Jail, according to Bennett.
Ottawa Sheriff’s detectives continue investigating. Formal charges are expected, Bennett wrote in an email to media, “in the next few days.”
Bennett noted extradition plans are being made.
