GRAND HAVEN TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A 52-year-old man is in custody following what the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department is calling a “domestic violence incident” at a residence south of Grand Haven on Thursday night.
According to Sheriff Sergeant Brandon Tubergan, officers from his department and the Grand Haven Department of Public Safety were dispatched to a home on Oak Hill Court, in the vicinity of Comstock Street and 178th Avenue, shortly before 9:30 PM. “When officers attempted contact with the occupants of the home, a male subject pointed a weapon at responding officers through a window,” Tubergan explained. “Officers backed away from the residence, set up a perimeter around the home, and attempted to communicate with the suspect.
“A short time later, the suspect exited the residence armed with several weapons and was again confronted by responding officers. During this interaction, the suspect pointed a weapon at an officer but quickly ran away. The suspect was located by officers a short distance away and taken into custody without incident.”
There were no reports of anyone hurt, and the suspect is expected to be arraigned on “numerous charges” in Grand Haven District Court, as the matter remains under investigation.
