HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Tune in to 99.7 FM or 1450 AM to get WHTC news-talk radio or listen to music on 92.7 The Van.
Just don’t come to our offices at 87 Central Ave. in Holland.
You can also listen to WHTC online or The Van online — or download WHTC’s app for Androids or Apple devices and The Van app for Androids and Apple devices.
WHTC, 927 The Van and our sibling stations in Midwest Communications Radio are restricting who can be in our buildings here and in our other markets because of the coronavirus threat.
That means no visitors, no guests, no public in our building.
It’s one way we’re keeping our staff healthy and helping slow the spread of COVID-19.
We’ve always kept our stations clean, but now we’re using disinfecting wipes more frequently on commonly used radio equipment, including studio microphones, and plastic gloves for staff who want to use them. For now, though, all of our guests are talking to our listeners via phone, so they can stay safer, too.
We encourage you to stay home if at all possible, as much as possible, and flatten the bell-curve of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Being aggressively proactive in prevention will help preserve your immune system and limit the spread of this coronavirus to people who are vulnerable: the elderly, those living with asthma, diabetes or other immune-compromising condition; people being treated for or recovering from cancer, pregnant women, and medically fragile babies. A few tips are below.
- Frequent hand washing, of fingers and the palms and backs of hands, for a minimum of 20 seconds, using warm water and soap. You don’t need hand gel if you carry a bar of soap in a baggie.
- Avoid large crowds.
- Sanitize surfaces often
- Eating a healthy diet
- Sleeping for an appropriate amount
- If you’re sick, stay home. Use alternative communication methods to stay in touch: phone calls, video chatting, email and even first-class mail.
- If you need to get medical treatment, see your doctor, but call ahead. Authorities want to limit the rush to emergency rooms.
- Have a clear understanding with your employer (or employees) about policies for absences and doctors’ notes. Officials are asking employers to relax punitive policies for absences and, for now, avoid large gatherings. Some corporations, such as Google, have mandated all employees who can work from home, do so.
- If you are planning to attend an event, confirm it’s still happening before you head out.
