HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A nice touch for the Class of 2020 by Holland Public Schools didn’t cost as much as some might have thought.
The district held its commencement ceremony outside of the Heeringa Holland Civic Center Place on June 1st, with graduates of Holland High, Holland Virtual Tech and Holland Early College honored. There were big screens with full multi-media production for those attending while sitting in parked cars, and according to Superintendent Dr. Brian Davis, “it was cheaper than what it would have been.
“Certainly from the tech side, those costs were all basically the same, but we didn’t have facility rental” he said on “WHTC Talk of the Town” during his monthly appearance on Tuesday. “The city worked with us, the Civic Center worked with us, the radio stations working with us, so in the end, we had our budget that we knew that we going to have to work in. I don’t have the final numbers in front of me, but I know that it will be less than what it was before.”
West Ottawa Public Schools is planning a similar type of commencement ceremony for its High School graduates at the site of Panther Stadium, on the campus of Harbor Lights Middle School, next Thursday evening, with coverage beginning at 5:50 PM on 99 7/1450 WHTC and The Lakeshore’s 92 7 The Van.
