HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Labor and development are highlighted in tonight’s Holland City Council business meeting.
The governing panel will go behind closed doors before the 6:30 PM session to discuss a proposed new collective bargaining agreement with the Tulip City’s unionized public safety officers and firefighters. That agreement is slated for a formal vote during the meeting, as well as a proposed five-year contract with Keith Van Beek to remain as Holland’s City Manager. His initial two-year pact expires at the end of the month, and a recent review of his performance was “positive,” according to a memo from City Attorney Ron Vander Veen that is attached to the agenda for tonight’s meeting.
In addition, City Council is also expected to approve the consolidated plans and action plans for Holland’s Community Development Block Grant program, spanning not only the upcoming fiscal year that begins on July 1st, but for the next five years. Amendments to the current CDBG program for addressing needs created by the COVID 19 pandemic that can be covered financially through the federal CARES Act also needs Council’s endorsement.
The meeting will be in chambers at Holland City Hall, with an online stream available through the city’s website.
