HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — A 21-year-old Zeeland woman went by ambulance to Spectrum Zeeland Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after a two-car crash early Sunday, July 19, 2020.
Ottawa County Sheriff’s deputies, dispatched to the scene at 1:15 a.m. found the crash on New Holland Street at 104th Avenue in Holland Township.Police learned an 18-year-old Holland woman, driving a 2005 Hyundai, stopped at southbound 104th at New Holland, then proceeded though the intersection.
She later told police she did not see a Nissan SUV headed east. The Hyundai hit the Nissan, which had a 21-year-old Zeeland woman at the wheel. The crash sent the Nissan out of control and the SUV overturned into a ditch. The 20-year-old Holland man riding as a passenger in the Nissan was unhurt. Everyone involved had been wearing seatbelts.The crash remains under investigation; alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash, according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt. Greg Rotman.
Holland Township firefighters and AMR Ambulance assisted at the scene.
