WASHINGTON (WHTC-AM/FM) – U.S. Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin told CNBC on Thursday that the Trump Administration is in favor of getting more coronavirus stimulus checks into the hands of Americans, and he’s working on getting the measure passed by Congress.
Zeeland Republican Rep. Bill Huizenga and his House colleagues, as well as those in the Senate have announced plans to discuss another relief package when they return to Capitol Hill next week from the Independence Day holiday break.
“It very likely will have some sort of additional, direct stimulus dollars into individuals,” he said on “WHTC Morning News” during his weekly interview on Thursday, “with the hope and the idea that (the taxpayers) will go out and spend that (money), and not just sock it away or pay off bills. It’s really (for) trying to go out and spend that.”
Huizenga added that, if such a package doesn’t get done by the end of the month, it may be stalled in August, as the House is slated for a recess through Labor Day.
