HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — In 2014, journalist and policy analyst Raza Ahmad Rumi survived a failed assassination attempt by the Taliban. His driver did not.
Today, Rumi lives in the U.S., serving as Ithaca College’s director of the Department of Journalism in New York.
He is also the first speaker for Global Decisions 2020, America’s largest discussion program on world affairs. Holland area residents will have the opportunity to attend a free simulcast of Rumi’s presentation on Tuesday, February 11th at noon at City Hall.
In his presentation, “Kashmir: Flashpoint between India and Pakistan,” Rumi will explain factors that play into India and Pakistan’s actions and the U.S. response to these countries and suggest ways to de-escalate conflict between these two nuclear powers.
Global Decisions 2020 is organized by Foreign Policy Association, sponsored by the World Affairs Council of Western Michigan, and hosted by Holland’s International Relations Commission.

The free lunchtime simulcast is at noon to 1 p.m. today, Feb. 11, 2020. in Holland City Hall’s council chambers, 270 S. River Ave. Attendees are invited to bring their lunch; beverages will be provided.
