HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — An early-morning single-vehicle crash critically injured a 22-year-old Rockford man, according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt. Chris Dill.
Police were summoned just after 12:20 a.m. to eastbound Lake Michigan Drive at 24th Avenue in Tallmadge Township, after a passerby spotted a car in a ditch.
Police and Wright Tallmadge firefighters found the man pinned in his car, extricated him and he was rushed by LIFE EMS to Spectrum Health Butterworth in Grand Rapids.
Wright Tallmadge Fire Rescue responded for patient extrication and the patient was turned over to LIFE EMS for transport to Butterworth in critical condition.
Crash investigators believe he’d been driving south on 24th Avenue, but failed to stop at the “T” intersection with Lake Michigan Drive. His car crossed Lake Michigan Drive’s median, hitting the ditch, which caused the car to roll at least once.
This crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.
