HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Holland and Holland Township firefighters were called to the Holland Energy Park just before 11 a.m. Monday, April 13, 2020, on the report of a fire in a turbine, according to Holland Fire Capt. Chris Tinney.
He called it a “minor” fire, confined to a very small area of a turbine. There was no interruption in services during the incident he said, and the “clean agent system activated in the turbine pod.
“All is well,” he told WHTC. In a later tweet, fire officials said a small amount of oil had ignited, and that is under investigation.
Holland BPW spokeswoman Julie DeCook said in an email to WHTC the incident triggered the protection system. No on was hurt, she said.
The energy plan continues running with a slightly reduced output, she said, adding that and Holland BPW officials are investigating while taking what DeCook called “necessary precautions.”
Holland BPW customers shouldn’t be affected by the incident, DeCook said.
