OTTAWA COUNTY (WHTC-AM/FM) — Two teen boys are hospitalized after being tossed from a motorcycle just after 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2019.
Ottawa County Sheriff’s deputies, from the road patrol and the Park Township E-Unit, were called to the scene found a 14-year-old and 15-year-old had been riding a red 1997 Honda cafe-style motorcyle north on Butternut Avenue.
The 14-year-old driver lost control, and the motorcycle ran off the east side of the road, onto the shoulder, flinging him and his 15-year-old passenger off.
The 14-year-old went by Aeromed to Spectrum Health Butterworth in Grand Rapids, regaining consciousness before being transported, according to police. The passenger went by AMR ambulance to and undisclosed hospital.
Investigators indicated the motorcycle belongs to the driver’s older brother, but neither the driver nor his passenger were licensed to drive. Both boys were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.
Their names aren’t being released as the crash remains under investigation.
