GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – The dream ended one game too soon for Hamilton.
The Hawkeyes suffered the first loss of the season in their last game of the season, falling to Freeland in a Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 2 girls basketball championship tournament semifinal game on Friday evening at Van Noord Arena, 71-65. Hamilton (25-1) led by as many as 11 points in the third quarter, but the Falcons’ three-point shooting (9 for 21 outside of the arc) and the Hawks’ free throw issues (21 of 39 from the line) proved to be the undoing for the Black and Gold.
Kaydn Blanchard led Freeland (24-2) with 23 points, with Alyssa Argyle adding 17. Sophomore AJ Edinger paced Hamilton with 33 points and 17 rebounds.
