HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Holland’s 15th annual Downtown Holland St. Patrick’s Parade steps off at noon Saturday, March 16, 2019, at Holland’s Civic Center Place, heading east along Eighth Street to College Avenue.
Early risers interested in running can join the fourth annual St. Paddy’s Day Leprechaun Chase, what starts at Centennial Park, 250 Central Ave., which starts at 8:30 a.m. Saturday. This fundraising event of Holland Running Club, proceeds will benefit the local myTEAM Triumph Lakeshore Chapter.
This is “an athletic ride-along program created for children, teens, adults, and veterans with disabilities who would normally not be able to experience endurance events such as triathlons or road races,” accoridng to the myTEAM website.
Participants and spectators alike are encouraged to dress for the occasion in green or a favorite Irish costume.
The running kicks off with a half-mile Wee Chase around Centennial Park for children 8 years old or younger and the 5k starts at 8:45 a.m.
The 5K starts at Centennial Park, winds through downtown Holland to Windmill Island and back, through the Hope College campus.
The Wee Chase is free by pre-registration is required, either online or at Centennial Park just before the run.The fee to register for the 5K is $25 through Runsignup or $30 prior at Centennial Park on March 16.
