The GLIAC regular season basketball champions were on a winning display at the Fieldhouse Arena in Allendale last night. In the first game, Cassidy Boensch had 26 points with 11 rebounds as Grand Valley State captured the women’s crown with a 73-48 victory over visiting Davenport. The men’s nightcap went to the visitors, 70-67, as Robbie Bramhill, Janeau Joubert and Chris Rollins each had 14 points for the Panthers. The Lakers enter league tournament play on Tuesday evening, with the men traveling to Ashland and the women hosting Wayne State.
In state major-college basketball last night: Michigan 82, Nebraska 53; Detroit 87, Indiana-Purdue Indianapolis 85; and Oakland 86, Illinois-Chicago 72.

The regular season for prep girls hoops ended last night with these scores: Comstock Park 58, Holland 50; Holland Christian 50, Western Michigan Christian 46; West Ottawa 45, Battle Creek Central 40; Saugatuck 68, Lawton 36; and Delton Kellogg 51, Fennville 41. Girls’ state tournament play starts on Monday evening.

Exhibition baseball yesterday saw the Tigers down Atlanta, 7-6; the Cubs fall to Oakland, 10-3; and the White Sox slip against Seattle, 8-3.
