OTTAWA COUNTY (WHTC-AM/FM) — A Grand Rapids man, Jesus Flores, 58, went by ambulance to North Ottawa Community Hospital after Friday afternoon crash in Grand Haven.
Ottawa County Sheriff’ Sgt. Matt Wildfong indicated Flores was unconscious and pinned in his 2015 Dodge Minivan when they arrived at the scene at U.S. 31 and Lake Michigan Drive, just before 3:30 p.m.
Police found that a Shiller Park, IL, man, 50-year-old Mykhaylo Pidgayetskyy, at the wheel of a 2007 Volvo semi tractor-trailer, had been southbound on U.S. 31 when, witnesses told police, he failed to stop at the red light. Pidgayetskyy’s Volvo collided with Flores’ van. Flores had been eastbound on Lake Michigan Drive and crossing through the intersetion when the semi hit his van.
Flores was temporarily pinned in the vehicle, and was extricated
Grand Haven Fire Rescue extricated Flores from the van and he went by ambulance to North Ottawa Community Hospital trTwp Fire/Rescue. He was transported to North Ottawa Community Hospital, where he was treated for what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries.
