HOLLAND (WTHC-AM/FM) — West Olive resident Charles Gallup. 22, has been identified as the man killed in a single-car crash early Friday, Dec. 13, 2019.
He’d been driving west on Port Sheldon Road in Olive Township at 3:14 a.m. Friday, Dec. 13, 2019, according to Sheriff’s Sgt. J. Douglas, when the vehicle left the road, flipping and hitting a tree. The sound of the crash woke a nearby resident, who called police.
Mr. Gallup was pinned in and pronounced dead at the scene.
Port Sheldon St between 104th and 96th avenues was closed for several hours for the crash investigation and clean-up work.
Sheriff’s Sgt. Michael VanDenBosch indicated in an email to media that Mr. Gallup had been wearing his seatbelt, and that speed appears to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
Charles Gallup, according to public portions of his Facebook page, was a 2016 West Ottawa High graduate, and attended Grand Valey State University.
