HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Southbound U.S. 31 near Port Sheldon Road was closed for a short time after an inury crash just Monday afternoon, according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt Eric Westveer.
Police learned a semi-tractor-trailer, with a 49-year-old White Cloud man at the wheel, had been southbound US 31. But he failed to stop for the red light at Port Sheldon Road in Olive Township.
His semi crashed into the driver’s door of a 2015 Ford Edge with a 23-year-old Naperville, Ill. woman at the wheel. She had been eastbound on Port Sheldon Road and had the green light, Westveer said.
The Illinois woman went by AMR ambulance to Holland Hospital, where police say she is listed fair condition.
Southbound US 31 was closed for about an hour to investigate and has since reopened.
