HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A vital part of a community during an emergency is done by volunteers.
The Holland Amateur Radio Club is holding the second of three “Ham in a Day” sessions this year tomorrow. Tom Bosscher and other club members will be going over a lengthy list of questions that prospective ham radio operators must answer during a five-hour study session before the actual two-hour test is taken. “It’s a cram memory session,” he said during a recent appearance on “WHTC Talk of the Town.” “Remember when you used to do at school, where you’d study on the bus for the test in first hour? That’s basically what this does.
“We have a 95% pass rate, and then the people get their license. That’s an introduction of what they can do. Once your get your license, that’s when you start learning about what’s it’s all about.”
Cost of the “Ham in a Day” is 25 dollars, and tomorrow’s session at the Chick-Owa Sportsman’s Club off of Ottogan Street east of Holland begins at 1 PM. More information is here.
