HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – The 18th annual Tulipanes Latino Art and Film Festival gets underway Wednesday, September 19.
The annual event, which runs through Sunday, September 23, celebrates Latin-American art and film. It’s sponsored by Latin Americans United for Progress. In past years, most of the festival activities have been focused downtown, but LAUP executive director Ernesto Villareal says some changes have been made for this year to get the festival out to the wider community, such as a Friday film showing at the Pump House Museum near Holland State Park and a Sunday family film day at Engedi Church.
Most of the Tulipanes events are free to the public.
On Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2018, LAUP is partnering with Hope College’s Center for Diversity and Inclusion and Hope’s Latino student organization to present a Hispanic heritage lecture.
It will include the screening of a short film featuring two Michigan State University grad students who are being affected by changes to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals policy. For a complete schedule of Tulipanes events, go to www.laup.org/tulipanes.
