HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — The Labor Day Truck Parade and Ice Cream Social starts rolling right around 9 a.m from Zeeland’s Main Street, then along Chicago Drive — with an escort by Zeeland and Holland police officers — before driving though downtown Holland to the Civic Center parking lot, where people can check out the various trucks and have some free ice cream, courtesy of Hutt Trucking.
The City of Holland is hosting an 8 a.m. pancake breakfast at Windmill Island — though rain forced the cancelation of the boardwalk, according to Holland Parks and Recreation Director Andy Kenyon.
The annual Labor Day Truck Parade and Ice Cream Social began in 2006 and has evolved into a fun community event honoring and celebrating the products and employees of the Holland and Zeeland-area businesses.
WHTC Talk of the Town host Ed Ver Schure will be announcing the trucks as they arrive and providing musical entertainment at the Civic Center.
