The record for Lakeshore teams to reach the MHSAA football tournament of five in a single season was equaled on Friday night with West Ottawa’s 42-0 win over visting Grand Haven. The Panthers join both Zeeland teams, Saugatuck and Fennville in clinching a berth on the “Road to Ford Field,” with Holland Christian one win away from the six-win threshhold following a 37-7 triumph over Holland.
The latest renewal of Zeeland’s “Bird Bowl” went to the East Chix, a 48-34 victor over the West Dux.
Saugatuck and Fennville cleared the final hurdle before a climatic final game next Friday for the SAC Lakeshore Division title with triumphs – the Indians blanked Lawton, 42-0, while the Blackhawks disposed of Gobles, 48-8.
Also on Friday night, Hamilton dumped Wayland Union, 34-21.
