HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Michigan League of Women Voters President Judy Karandjeff came to Hope College Tuesday night talking to a crowd of mostly older voters about three statewide proposals:
- to legalize recreational marijuana
- authorize automatic and election day voter registration
- create a citizen-based redistricign commission to fix gerrymandered districts.
She said people who don’t have adequate ID at the polls can ask for a provisional ballot, but not everyone is aware of that.
She promoted vote411.org, where voters can get basic voter information, including candidate bios, ballot issue background and and polling information.
Some in the crowd seemd to confuse approval for medical marijuana — that measure has been law since 2008 — with recreational marijuana. Karandjeff said that is one of the most-common misperceptions she’s seen in her travels around the state.
