HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A staple of the Lakeshore community to kick off this holiday season comes this evening.
The annual Great Thanksgiving Banquet begins at 6 PM, as over 500 volunteers will join officials of the host Holland Rescue Mission in working alongside Hope College staff to help serve a full meal with “all of the trimmings.” There will be seating for 1400 at DeVos Fieldhouse, and according to organizers, “all are welcome … at no cost!” Care boxes filled with items that are usually not eligible for purchase by SNAP card members will be distributed to over 500 attending families.
The Mission, who has been a leading ministry to the homeless and for those at risk in the Holland/Zeeland area, has been providing this holiday meal for about two decades, moving it into DeVos Fieldhouse several years ago as the event grew. For more information, go here.
