OTTAWA COUNTY (WHTC-AM/FM) — A two-vehicle crash sent two women to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2018, according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt. Matt Wildfong.
The crash happened near the intersection of Filmore Street and 22nd Avenue at 7:17 a.m. when, Wildfong said, Grandville resident Olivia Bowen, 16, was steering a 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix out of a private drive to go east on Fillmore.
That’s when a westbound 2014 Honda Odyssey, with Allendale resident Tessa Potgeter, 36, at the wheel, hit Bowen’s driver’s side door. Potgeter was unable to stop and prevent the crash, Wildfong said.
Bowen was briefly pinned in her vehicle. Allendale firefights extricated her. Both women sustained non-life-threatening injuries, Wildfong said, and were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Both had been wearing their seatbelts.
