TALLMADGE TOWNSHIP (WHTC-AM/FM) — A 58-year-old Grand Rapids resident went to Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids after a single-vehicle crash on Lake Michigan Drive, according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt. Christy Wendt. He may have suffered a medical event prior to the crash, she said.
The crash happened just before 4:45 p.m., when witnesses saw the man’s vehicle swerving while eastbound on Lake Michigan Drive (M45) near Linden Drive in Tallmadge Township, Wendt said.
The vehicle went off the left side of the road, into the median, she said.
“Witnesses stopped and provided life-saving measures to the driver of the vehicle prior to medical and police arriving,” she said.
Lake Michigan Drive’s traffic was shut down to a single lane in each direction for about an hour whle emergency responders cared for the man and cleared the scene.
He was taken by Life Ambulance to Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids, where his condition is unknown.
