HILLSDALE, MI (WTVB) – A man accused of killing his father and another man early Thursday morning in Hillsdale County’s Camden Township is scheduled to be arraigned Friday in Hillsdale County District Court.
36-year-old Alexander Lee Dombrowski is facing two counts of open murder in connection with the shooting deaths at his home on Grange Road of his 64-year-old father Alexander and 56-year-old Timothy John Curtiss, a man who lived nearby.
Hillsdale County Sheriff Tim Parker says deputies were dispatched just after 4:00 a.m. to the Dombrowski residence just north of the Michigan-Ohio line to investigate a report of a man being shot. Prior to arrival, deputies were told that a second man had been shot in the front yard of the residence.
Michigan State Police Troopers also responded and additional support was requested from the State Police Emergency Support Team to locate and apprehend a man who had walked away from the residence.
Other occupants of the home were removed before the search for the suspect began. There were no other injuries.
Both the elder Dombrowski and Curtiss were found dead at the residence. Dombrowski was shot inside while Curtiss was shot outside after responding to calls for help from within the residence.
A Hillsdale County deputy spotted the suspect in a field south of the residence just after 9:00 a.m.. The deputy along with the State Police E.S. Team took the subject into custody without further incident.
A motive for the killings has not been released.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Department was among the numerous agencies from Michigan, Indiana and Ohio who assisted.
