HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Holland High School Theatre is in rehearsals for the musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
The musical is based on the 1968 film version of Ian Fleming’s children’s book. where an eccentric inventor, Caractacus Potts played by Dick Van Dyke in the movie, sets about restoring an old race car. He uses scrap and such to restore the car. The family then discovers the car has magical properties.
Superintendent of Holland Public Schools says the Theater program is so successful because of students, parents and the Director of the Theatre program Kevin Scheider
“Under his leadership, they have won 20 State Class A Competitive Theater Championships. Over the duration of time, they have been involved in performing numerous times across the community. We’ve had over 36,000 individuals who have been able to come and see their performances. Not only our Theater program, but also our Competitive Forensics Program/Speech and Debate, have placed in the top five teams in three of the last four years statewide.
The show opens Thursday, November 30th and will run for through December 10. Tickets are available for $15 in advance for adults and $10 for students with id. Also available at the door. Go to www.hollandtheatreguild.org
