HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – The West Ottawa School District has received an award by an international business management organization for transparency in reporting its financial situation.
The Association of School Business Officials International (ABSO) awarded the district a Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting, for having met or exceeded the program’s high standards for financial reporting and accountability. The award was for the district’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for the last fiscal year ending 2016.
The award confirms the school business office’s commitment to financial accountability and transparency. The recognition can improve the district’s bond rating and helps promote high quality financial reporting says ASBO, while stressing that “transparency and fiscal accountability are critical in today’s dynamic education environment.”
The Association of School Business Officials, founded in 1910, is a professional organization of 5,000 members that provides programs and services to promote high standards of school business management practices, professional growth and effective use of education resources.
