HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Oct. 5, 2026) – Last Friday’s Holland Fire Truck Parade kicked off awareness of the dangers of fire along the Lakeshore.
National Fire Prevention Week, which goes from October 4th through the 10th, commemorates the Great Chicago Fire, which burned from October 8th through the 10th in 1871, with Holland one of a number of Midwest communities that also was ablaze at that time.
This year’s theme, according to the National Fire Protection Association, is “Charge into Fire Safety: Safe Charging is a Superpower,” focusing on reducing lithium-ion battery fire risks from everyday electronics, according to Holland Fire Marshal Bret Groendyke.
