HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Sept. 10, 2026) – Dave Colvin continues to serve the Lakeshore, and has been commended for his duties.
On Tuesday, the Reserve Sergeant with the Holland Department of Public Safety was named the Police Services’ Reserve Officer of the Year. Nominated for the honor by his colleagues, he was cited by Chief Matt Messer as an excellent, proven leader, and a true professional noted for his mentoring of new reserves through being clear and patient in training.
Before joining HDPS as a reserve officer in 2020, with a promotion to reserve sergeant two years ago, Colvin spent more than a quarter of a century with the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, retiring in 2023 as a corrections sergeant. He will represent the department in a variety of ceremonial appearances, including a spot during next year’s Tulip Time Festival parades.
