HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Sept. 4, 2026) – The next phase in a long-term effort to restore water quality in Lake Macatawa and the Macatawa Watershed has come.
On Thursday, the ODC Network announced a plan through 2030 to continue and improve upon the 13-year-old Project Clarity. Initially aimed toward reducing phosphorus runoff, which led to algal bloom issues that have plagued the waterway for decades, the initiative will now focus on improving overall water quality standards for aquatic life.
Executive Director Travis Williams admits that the work that has been done at this point has just scratched the surface of what needs to be done.
Williams and other ODC Network officials are now going to municipal bodies to seek continued financial support for Project Clarity, with the next phase set to begin early next year.
