LANSING, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Sept. 4, 2026) – Two persons from Ottawa County were tabbed on Thursday to serve on a new advisory board aimed to advise and strengthen a statewide literacy improvement plan.
Kentwood Public Schools Superintendent Kevin Polston, a former Grand Haven Area Public Schools teacher and administrator who still lives in the county seat, and Susan Jandernoa of West Olive, a retired East Grand Rapids Public Schools instructor who is a Grand Valley State University Trustee, will be among 15 educational leaders tasked with improving literacy outcomes for all students. Polston will serve as the panel’s initial chairman.
