ALLENDALE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Sept. 1, 2026) – Four persons are in custody following a Saturday night armed robbery in a unit at an off-campus apartment complex near Grand Valley State University.
Ottawa County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the area of Pierce Street and 48th Avenue around 11:30 PM on a report that three persons had entered an apartment, assaulted a 19-year-old man there and threatened his life, claiming they were armed. The victim was able to escape by jumping from a second-story window and called 9-1-1, suffering minor injuries as a result of the overall incident.
The suspects fled with a variety of personal items, including electronics and cash. Utilizing Flock safety cameras, a suspect vehicle was identified and subsequently located near Brighton, where the four 22-year-old men were arrested and returned to Ottawa County.
On Monday, Dalon Lyons, Kesean Shorter, Jwane Sanders and Jamon Cassity were all arraigned on various charges, with Judge Judy Mulder at the 58th District Court in Hudsonville ordering them held on bond between $75,000 and $300,000. None of the suspects from the Detroit area were GVSU students.
