LANSING, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Aug. 8, 2026) – A long-neglected area of study in Michigan may get its long-overdue attention soon.
The Michigan Department of Transportation has issued a Request for Proposals in the search for an Aviation Workforce Development Consultant. The state’s Office of Aeronautics is looking for someone to support the development of an aviation-related education and outreach strategy, intended to strengthen the partnership between the Department, the Michigan Aerospace Commission, educational institutions, and students across the state.
Matt Neyens, the manager of Holland-based West Michigan Regional Airport, is a strong supporter of improving aviation education, being a graduate of Western Michigan University’s College of Aviation.
Responses for this RFP are due by September 4th, and the Office of Aeronautics is looking to have the Aviation Workforce Development Consultant on hand by October 1st.
