HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Holland Public Schools’ Superintendent Brian Davis submitted his resignation to the district. He’ll retire on June 30, 2021.
In a note to media, he wrote:
“Holland Public Schools is a success, due in part, to the commitment of so many community partnerships that have been established and nurtured over the past several years. Together, we have aligned our core mission/values to serve the staff, students, and families of Holland Public Schools. It has been a true pleasure and joy to be a thought partner with you to identify ways in which we can improve our efforts and intersect them with other services in the community.
“The purpose of this communication is to let you know that after careful thought and reflection, I have communicated my intent to the HPS Board of Education to retire from Holland Public Schools effective June 30, 2021. Nearly twenty-five years ago, when I made the decision to leave the classroom, I did so wanting to have a greater systemic impact. I loved teaching, but I aspired to do more. Now, as I look at my next chapter of leadership and learning, I have opportunities to impact even more students and more communities.
“While there may never be a good time to depart or communicate a message such as this, I do so confident that HPS core mission/values, incredible staff, strong building/district leadership, fiscal capacity, caring families, and strong community partnerships will ensure that the work continues.
“It is my hope and intent that the relationship that we have established transitions successfully to the next Superintendent of HPS. In the coming months as this transition takes place, I hope to have the opportunity to introduce him/her to you as I know how much I have valued the personal/professional relationships developed as we have served together.”
