Timothy R. Klunder, 57, of Zeeland passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, July 27, 2026.
Tim was born February 19, 1969, in Grand Rapids, Michigan to William “Butch” and Sandy Klunder. He was raised in Byron Center and graduated from Byron Center High School, KVCC, GVSU, and Western Michigan University with a master’s in public administration. Tim first met Kim Glass at Family Fare, and they married on March 16, 1990. Tim’s work life started at Family Fare, then working as an assistant in the city manager’s office in Huber Heights, OH. Then he became the city manager of Scottville, Michigan, Algonac, Michigan, and finally at City of Zeeland from 2002-2026.
Tim’s strong faith drove everything in his life; his work, athletics, church life, and especially his family. Being a dedicated husband, father, and Opa was his most beloved and important role. He will be deeply and dearly missed. Tim and Kim and their family have been members of Faith Church during the life spent in Zeeland.
Tim was a gifted golfer. He was a member of Macatawa Legends and also a past club champion. He was the Grand Valley Amateur Champion in 2008, with his son serving as his caddie. While Tim has many golf trophies and championships, his greatest golfing gift was his ability to make golf fun for everyone no matter their skill level.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Kim, their children and grandchildren: Scott and Bethany Klunder (Kate, Jana, Leon, Abel), Tyler and Arin Klunder (Callum), Jordan and Liz Klunder, Elizabeth and Matt Luce (Beckham, Palmer); his parents Butch and Sandy Klunder, parents-in-law: Howie and Norma Glass, brothers: Jer and Barb Klunder, Bill and Diane Klunder, Mike and Kim Klunder, Ken Klunder; Kim’s siblings: Matt and Brenda Glass, Kristine and John Robach, Kathy and Jay Peltier, and many extended family members.
