WASHINGTON (WHTC-AM/FM, Jul. 25, 2026) – More federal funding is coming back to Ottawa County.
This week, the office of US House Representative Bill Huizenga announced that separate Department of Health and Human Services grants totaling nearly $2.2 million was awarded to two entities. Ottawa County Community Mental Health is getting a million-dollar Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic Improvement and Advancement Grant, aimed at sustaining and enhancing services, while the Ottawa Area Intermediate School District is receiving just under $1.2 million through Project AWARE, a program that helps create a sustainable framework to address mental health, substance use, and co-occurring disorders, along with promoting social and emotional well-being for school-aged youth.
The eight-term Republican from Holland says that the money will be put to good use along the Lakeshore.
The funds come from Congressional budget appropriation actions signed into law earlier this year.
