ALLEGAN, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jun. 22, 2026) – An effort to oust the Dorr Township supervisor apparently continues.
Some residents of that northeast Allegan County community, unhappy with a proposed $48 million Microsoft data center on 272 acres near 144th Avenue and US-131, have twice attempted to begin circulating a petition for recalling Jeff Miling from his leadership position over this matter. However, the petition language has been rejected twice by the county’s Election Commission in clarity and factuality hearings, as County Clerk Bob Genetski explained why a recall must be based on current facts and not opinions.
Miling has been supervisor since 2013.
Genetski believes that another petition language request to the election commission is expected. However, the requirements of gathering around 5,000 validated signatures by the September 3rd deadline for placing the recall on the November 3rd General Election ballot may be too short of a time frame for it to be accomplished. Due to Michigan’s election regulations, the next possible date for such a vote would be May 4, 2027.
