GRAND HAVEN, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jun. 16, 2026) – A 21-year-old Holland man could be in his 50’s before he is a free man again.
On Monday, 20th Circuit Court Judge Jon Hulsing sentenced Jose Rosales-Torres to between 81 and 400 months in prison. He pleaded no contest to an armed robbery charge, in exchange for having a fleeing and eluding count against him dropped.
Last October 29th. the accused, along with two teenagers, held up the West Olive One-Stop convenience store at gunpoint and took undisclosed merchandise, leaving the clerk on duty unhurt. A high-speed chase into Kent County shortly ensued before deputies there spotted an abandoned vehicle, apprehending the three suspects who had attempted to continue fleeing on foot.
While a 17-year-old was released to his guardians at the time of his arrest, Rosales-Torres and his 16-year-old brother were both charged as adults in the crime. There was no mention as to the disposition of the teens at the time of Monday’s sentencing.
