HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Two people were hurt in an early morning crash when an 18-year-old South Haven woman ignored the flashing red light on Riley at 136th Avenue, according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt. Michael Hallmeyer.
She’d been driving a silver Ford Focus north on 136th Avenue, at 1:30 a.m. Dec 24, 2020, but in crossing Riley Street, her car got hit by a westbound silver Dodge Dart, with an 18-year-old Zeeland woman at the wheel, Hallmeyer said. The Zeeland woman had the right-of-way, he said.
Two passengers in the Ford Focus, a 15-year-old South Haven girl and a 19-year-old Fennville man went by ambulance to Holland Hospital with what police called minor injuries. Everyone involved had been wearing seatbelts, according to Hallmeyer.
Alcohol was not a factor in this crash, according to Hallmeyer. The South Haven driver got a ticket for disregarding a traffic-control device.
