CROCKERY TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, May 3, 2026) – A 35-year-old motorcyclist from Spring Lake lost his life when his machine crashed into a pickup near Nunica early on Sunday morning.
No names were disclosed by Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Chris Armstrong following the incident, which occurred around 12:25 AM on State Road just west of 136th Avenue. The truck, driven by a 39-year-old Kalamazoo man, was attempting to back out of a private driveway, while the biker, going westbound, sped up in an attempt to get around the vehicle.
The motorcycle apparently clipped the front corner of the truck and crashed, throwing its rider off, and causing significant fatal injuries to its sole rider. Efforts by a LIFE EMS crew to revive him at the scene were unsuccessful, while the driver and two female passengers in the pickup, all from Kalamazoo, were unhurt.
Armstrong did not indicate whether the biker was helmeted at the time, as the incident remains under investigation.
