OLIVE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Apr. 30, 2026) –
Consideration of a couple of ballot proposals spotlight Thursday’s monthly Ottawa County Board of Commissioners meeting.
The governing panel will conduct separate public hearings ahead of votes to put millage renewal questions before voters in two upcoming elections. Ten-year dedicated levies for Community Mental Health and for Parks and Open Space expire on December 31st, and the county is asking to continue the three tenths of a mill annual assessment for CMH, while increasing the annual tax for parks from a third of a mill to a full half mill.
While the CMH request and a renewal ask for parks would be on the August 4th Primary Election ballot, the two-tenths of a mill increase for parks would go before voters on the November 3rd General Election ballot. District 1 Commissioner Jim Barry of Park Township explains.
The 9 AM Ottawa County Board meeting is at the Fillmore Street Complex (12220 Fillmore St.) in West Olive. An online link to the agenda and supporting documents is here.
