GRAND HAVEN TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Apr. 23, 2026) – A 42-year-old Grand Haven woman was hospitalized after her vehicle apparently caused some mayhem south of Grand Haven on Wednesday evening.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant David DeWitt, the unnamed motorist was driving her SUV westbound on Mercury Drive near Meadowlark Drive, just past Comstock Street, around 7:15 PM. Witnesses say that the vehicle had continuously struck the curb before going off the roadway, careened off of a parked and unoccupied riding lawn mower, went across two yards, clipped a front yard fence, and finally stopped on top of a back yard fence.
When first responders arrived, the woman appeared to have suffered no visible injuries, but was lapsing in and out of consciousness, and was unable to explain what happened. She was taken to Trinity Health in Muskegon for treatment.
No other persons were injured or involved, as the incident remains under investigation.
