LANSING, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Mar. 20, 2026) – As state lawmakers make budget decisions for Fiscal 2027, requests for funds continue in Lansing.
On Wednesday, Representative Nancy DeBoer went before the state House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor and Economic Opportunity, asking the panel to support a $1.7 million allocation for Holland Hospital to expand its advanced endoscopy services. If awarded, the money would go towards creating a dedicated procedure room with specialized equipment needed to help diagnose and treat conditions affecting the digestive system, pancreas, liver, and more.
While this particular project would add only six to eight new staffers, hospital President Mark Pawlak cited the ripple effect it would have on the facility’s workforce.
The subcommittee took no immediate action on the third-term Holland Republican lawmaker’s request, but plan to consider it as it formulates its proposed spending plan in the coming weeks.
