KALAMAZOO, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Mar. 11, 2026) – The West Michigan economy appears to be improving, but…
That’s according to the latest findings from the monthly survey of this region’s purchasing managers by the director of supply management research with the Seidman College of Business at Grand Valley State University, Brian Long. There were improvements in new orders, production, employment, and lead times in February from January, and short-term projections were better than what they were during the final few months of 2025.
However, Dr. Long believes that all bets could be off right now, considering the changing world scene since he canvassed those on the front lines of manufacturing during the last two weeks of last month.
The long-term business outlook, which queries the perceptions for the next three to five years, eased slightly, but is still strong by historical standards.
An online link to Dr. Long’s findings is here.
