OLIVE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Mar. 10, 2026) – Although it’s still 10 days until the Spring Equinox on the calendar, an aspect of the upcoming season has already made its mark in Michigan.
Strong storms lashed the state last Friday, resulting in four tornados that touched down south of the Lakeshore, killing four persons and injuring 12 others, while much of the region saw heavy rains and winds. According to the National Weather Service Office in Grand Rapids, in its daily Hazardous Weather Outlook, quick-moving severe weather is possible on Tuesday evening, between 8 PM and 3 AM, with the area most likely to see these storms will be from I-96 to the south. Large hail is the most probably threat, with tornadoes and damaging winds possible towards the I-94 corridor.
Taking these concerns seriously for when such turbulent weather arrives is vital, according to Ottawa County’s Emergency Management Director Lou Hunt.
Locally heavy rain is also possible that may result in flooding.
