HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Feb. 3, 2026) – It’s a triple whammy that is hitting motorists at the gasoline pump at the moment.
Triple-A Michigan’s daily survey of fueling stations showed a statewide average of $3.13 per gallon as of Tuesday morning. That’s a spike of 14 cents from Monday, and compares to marks of $2.91 last week, $2.88 a month ago, and $2.96 as of this time in 2025. Major markets range from $2.98 in Benton Harbor to $3.25 in Ann Arbor.
The sudden hike may be due to tensions from the conflict in Iran, which has driven crude oil futures to higher prices, while Adrienne Woodland with the Auto Club Group in Dearborn, who monitors gas price trends in this state, cites two other factors that come into effect this time of year.
Along the Lakeshore, Ottawa County’s average cost of $3.15 a gallon is a nickel higher than neighboring Allegan County, 11 cents more than Muskegon County, and three pennies above that of Kent County.
