GRAND HAVEN, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Feb. 26, 2026) – The pothole season along the Lakeshore is well underway.
On Tuesday, the road commissions of Kent and Ottawa counties issued a joint statement, cautioning motorists about the same seasonal challenge in maintaining roads during the freeze-thaw cycle. While gravel roads experience the worst of these weather-caused issues, paved roads are not immune either.
Alex Doty with the Ottawa County Road Commission says that crews have been addressing this already.
Seasonal weight restrictions have been in place since the middle of this month, which has helped, and motorists can also be a part of the solution.
